Kwickset konstruction kits, established in 1992, designs and manufactures timber framed and plywood braced construction kits. These kits, when constructed, are very earthquake resistant and very energy efficient. The heaviest component, to be lifted, weighs less than 10kg. Only the plywood (12mm/5ply) can weigh up to 22kg. All the components are designed to be easily assembled by unskilled labour and the construction for the largest kit is ususally completed within a matter of days (3 - 11 days). Finishing takes the same time as a conventional timber framed building. These kits have been designed to achieve the most compact package to reduce transport costs. The largest kit (140sqm footprint) fits 3 to a 20ft shipping container. The smallest kit (36sqm footprint) fits 9 to a 20ft shipping container.
